Selly Park Surgery
Patient Participation Group
As the previous newsletter reported, the Care Quality Commission rated the Surgery as ‘Good’ across all the eleven criteria which they always assess during their inspections. As of August this year none of the other 60 GP practices which are members of the Birmingham South Central Clinical Commissioning Group has achieved a higher rating.
More recently the annual GP Patient Survey published by NHS England has also shown the Surgery in a good light. The detailed questionnaire is sent to a random sample of patients at every GP practice in England, seeking patients’ satisfaction ratings for 23 aspects of the service they receive.
When the results for each question are compared with the average scores for other practices in the CCG and for the overall national averages, Selly Park was above the Birmingham South Central CCG average on 21 of the 23 questions and above the national average on 19 of the questions.
You can find the full results of the survey, for any GP practice, at gp-patient.co.uk
The doctors and all the other staff should feel very proud of these results. However, suggestions or comments from patients might well lead to further improvements, and perhaps the achievement of a Care Quality Commission rating of ‘Outstanding’.
Interested in joining the Patient Participation Group?
The PPG consists of patients and representatives of the Practice. Meetings are always attended by one of the doctors and the Practice Manager. There are four meetings a year, usually lasting a little over one hour.
We would welcome new members. If you are interested please contact the Practice Manager via Reception.
